Adena Springs announces launch of new Adena Retirement website

Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs farm announced today that they have launched a new interactive website in support of their in-house retirement program.

The website, www.AdenaRetirement.com, has been updated to encourage a more social and interactive relationship with those interested in adopting an Adena retiree or learning more about the Adena retirement program. In addition, the AdenaRetirement.com website hopes to become a central source of information about all adoption and retirement efforts in the industry. Visitors to the website can read about available adoption programs, industry news and efforts to support retired race horses, and see pictures and video of horses available for adoption.

"Taking care of their retirees is a major priority for the Stronach family," said Stacie Clark, director of the Adena retirement program. "It is all about the love of the animal, caring for the animal and believing that you have a responsibility to them when they are done racing. We hope that through our new website, potential owners will be able to better understand our program and goals, and read about some of the success stories we have had with recent retirees.”

The Stronachs have always been interested in the welfare of their retirees, which includes hundreds of horses who have either been gelded or have not performed well enough on the racetrack to become sires or broodmares. The Stronachs have set up two facilities, one in Florida and another in Ontario, to care for and rehabilitate their retired horses. In addition to the Adena retirement program, Frank Stronach recently announced the formation of the Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita Thoroughbred After-Care programs. The After-Care Programs will help match horses with loving owners who will make a lifelong commitment to their health, safety and well being.

“This is not a solution to the problem, but we feel it is another step in the right direction,” Stronach said. “While we believe it is the responsibility of every owner to find safe, after-race programs for all thoroughbreds, we also believe in taking the initiative to develop retirement, rehabilitation and retraining programs for these equine athletes who give so much to all of us.”
